Hi guys! It’s been nearly 3 weeks since Chicago Marathon (recap here) and I’ve been taking it easy for the most part. I ran a few 3-mile runs and most recently met up with Oiselle team this past Sunday for a 6.25-mile run which ended up aggravating my sore foot. Has anyone else experienced a sore/tender foot after a full marathon? This is my first time having this nagging ache, so I’m being cautious and taking it easy with a focus on resetting in November.
Big news if you don’t follow me on Twitter or Instagram: I’ve registered for the BMO Vancouver Marathon on May 4th! Running with my teammate Julie who’s running her first full marathon ever! Anyone else running it?

Anyway, to the main focus of this post, today marks the first day of November and there’s a really special month-long challenge that I’d like you to participate in with me.
A very special organization, Every Mother Counts (EMC), that is dedicated to supporting maternal health around the world, is partnering with an app and organization called Charity Miles.

Check out Every Mother Counts’ Why We Run video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ktzxLEkRkx8
For background on this challenge, on November 3rd, EMC will have a team of 60 running the ING NYC Marathon to support and bring awareness of the challenges for global maternal health. Sally Bergesen, CEO/founder of Oiselle, will be running NYC as part of the team.
Here’s how you can help:
Oiselle and EMC are looking for runners to run at least 1 mile per day for 26 days during the month. If you can commit to more than 26 days and 1 mile per day, by all means DO IT! 🙂
To participate in the challenge, download the Charity Miles app (it’s free!!), select Every Mother Counts as the designated charity of choice, and make sure to track your outdoor miles with your smartphone – whether by running, biking, or walking.
For every mile you track, Charity Miles will donate 25 cents to EMC!!
That’s not all – EMC will be pulling reports to track participation on Charity Miles. There will be prizes awarded for many different categories.
Please join me in participating in this challenge and supporting the global maternal health of women around the world. And please spread the word about this challenge. Let’s band together and support and spread awareness for maternal health!

Love this; thanks for sharing! I’m not able to run yet, but have just been cleared to start walking (only 20-30min 2-3x week, but it’s better than nothing). Glad I’ll still be able to participate!
Fantastic, Laura!! Every step and mile counts for this. 🙂 So glad that you can participate!
I’ll be running the bmo Vancouver full too! It’ll be my second full marathon and I’m so excited!!!!
Excellent! So excited for the Vancouver Marathon. Training is coming up quickly. Enjoy any downtime that you can. 🙂 Hope to catch you there! Feel free to add me on Twitter (sarahchan) if you’d like to sync up during training!
