Favorite Memories from 2012

Hmm, it’s currently 4 days into 2013 and I’m just now thinking about all the amazing things that have happened in 2012.

2012 was filled with many, many highlights. Below are some of my favorite memories that will go down in history as most awesome ever.

Getting Engaged!!

Joe and I spent a wonderful weekend in Vancouver, BC, one of my all-time favorite cities, in May. We typically go to Vancouver a few times a year and that weekend we started off the Saturday with a 20-mile long run for marathon training (that turned into 21 as we lost each other along the way – Joe ran the first half and biked the last half).

That Saturday evening, May 12th, we went on a romantic stroll along Stanley Park and he popped the big question! And, of course, I said yes. So happy to marry my best friend and running partner for life who is always there to cheer me on in life.

Cannot wait to become a Mrs. As of today, only 142 days until the big day.

The Ultimate Year of Running

2012 represented the biggest year of running of my life. I did not 1, 2, or 3 half marathons… I did a total of 7 half marathons through out the year!

In addition to this, I did not only my first full marathon (Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego Marathon) but also my second full marathon (Portland Marathon). Two fulls + 7 halfs? Yep, rocked it!

Oh, plus just a 5K and 10K along the way.

Some of the pictures from 2013 racing:

Tallying those up, (7 half marathons, 2 full marathons, one 5K, and one 10K), I have to say that I am very, very proud of myself for really getting into running and doing so many races! Though, at the last half of the year (Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas), I ended up experiencing a major gluteal muscle issue which sidelined most of my running for the rest of the year.

Also, did you see that gruesome picture above from after the SD full? Yep, tripped at mile 15, face-planted, and busted up both knees. That sidelined my running for a whole month and I’m still scarred. Boo.

Looking ahead, 2013 will continue to be an amazing year of running!

Joining the Oiselle Team

The best ever women’s running apparel brand accepted me as an ambassador and runner for their team! Check out my blog post about this and also my official athlete profile. With this, I’ve joined an absolutely amazing group of women. It’s been such an amazing experience getting to know my teammates who are spread through out the USA and getting to know the Oiselle HQ ladies who are based in my lovely city of Seattle.

I look forward to representing the brand at all of my races in 2013 and beyond!

Making New Local Seattle Runner Friends

It’s been such a blessing meeting so many new local runner friends through social media. We’ve done so many fun things such as sweaty Flywheel sessions, FlyBarre, Veggie Grill dinner dates, froyo, organized group runs, and coffee meetups.

All these lovely ladies have been a pleasure to get to know and I look forward to meeting more in 2013.

Becoming a FitFluential Ambassador

I am honored to have been accepted as a new FitFluential ambassador a couple of months ago! So many of my social media friends are fitness and health-minded and socially-savvy people are ambassadors and I’m pleased to join such good company. Can’t wait to see what all happens in 2013!

Amazing Times with Friends

Along with making new friends in the running community in Seattle, I had such a blast with so many of my great, amazing group of friends! From trips to LA, shenanigans locally, Oregon visits, and beyond, I am truly blessed to have people who are just plain awesome.

I am so excited for what this year will bring. Getting married in May, doing Ragnar Relay with Oiselle birds, doing Hood to Coast with Joe and friends, doing more races, meeting new people…. AHHHH! Needless to say, I’m stoked and so ready.

Bring it on, 2013.
